Rawalpindi: Around 50 people injured due to kite flying and aerial firing during Basant
During Basant in Rawalpindi, around 50 people were injured due to kite flying and aerial firing, while a 65-year-old man died due to falling from the roof while flying a kite.
Despite the government ban, Basant was celebrated in Rawalpindi by the "Pindi Boys", who miserably thwarted all police tactics with aerial firing and bokata noise.
The standoff that started between the police and Basant's enthusiastic kite-flyers continued till late at night, in total more than 50 people were injured due to aerial firing, flying kites, jumping from rooftops and stringing around their necks.
Those injured during kite flying were taken to private hospitals by their relatives fearing the police and the emergency service rescue 1122 was not informed.
On the other hand, the police arrested around 300 kite flyers and claimed to have recovered weapons from 24 people.
On the other hand, due to the rush of the injured in Benazir Hospital emergency, the entry of common people was closed. On this occasion, the Rawalpindi police completely failed to control Basant. Entry of motorcycles is closed.
