The death toll from the earthquake in Japan has reached 24. The tsunami warning issued after the earthquake was changed to a tsunami advisory. 149 aftershocks were recorded after the earthquake.



Dozens of buildings were destroyed as a result of the 7.6-magnitude earthquake in the central prefecture of Ishikawa, 400 km from Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Fires broke out in residential areas with deep cracks in the roads, cutting off power to thousands of homes.

After the earthquake, the highways of the affected areas were closed and the bullet train service was suspended. Tsunami waves of one meter high were recorded in the coastal area of the Sea of Japan.


Meanwhile, thousands of people were evacuated to safer places after a tsunami warning was issued in the coastal areas of Niigata, Toyama and Ishikawa prefectures.

After the earthquake in Japan, Russia and North Korea have also issued tsunami warnings in some coastal areas.
