A new variant of Corona has been confirmed in 2 passengers who arrived in Karachi from abroad.

2 passengers from Bangkok and Abu Dhabi have tested positive for JN1. Sindh Health Department has received the report of 6 suspected covid variant passengers arriving at Karachi Airport from abroad.
Out of the 6 passengers sent to test for the new covid variant JN1, 2 passengers were confirmed to have the new type of corona. 2 passengers from Bangkok and Abu Dhabi tested positive for JN1.
The spokesperson of the Sindh Health Department said that a 26-year-old passenger who was infected with JN1 variant belongs to Kech area of Balochistan and the other 53-year-old passenger hails from Sanghar and lives in Qasimabad, Hyderabad.
The two passengers have been strictly instructed to quarantine at home. The spokesman further said that the PCR tests of 2 passengers from Sharjah and three passengers who arrived in Karachi from Jeddah have come positive, while the other passengers who arrived in Karachi from Jeddah are residents of DG Khan. The PCR test of the 60-year-old passenger has come negative.
It should be noted that three days ago, the National Institute of Health had provided Covid testing kits to the Border Health Services Department. According to the officials of the Federal Ministry of Health, 40 thousand rapid diagnostic kits were given to the Border Health Services Department.
